About This Percentage Calculator

MyQuickTool's Percentage Calculator packs three calculation modes into one fast, clean tool. Whether you're working out GST on an invoice, figuring out your exam score as a percentage, or calculating a salary hike — results appear instantly as you type, no submit button required.

Unlike single-purpose calculators that make you open separate pages for each type of calculation, this tool keeps everything in one place. The ₹ Rupee Format switch applies Indian locale formatting (lakhs and crores) to all results. GST quick-fill buttons (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) let you calculate tax amounts in a single click.

Mode 1 — What is X% of Y?

Enter a percentage and a base number to find the result. The tool also shows the remaining amount (useful for discounts: if 25% off ₹2,000 is ₹500, you pay ₹1,500) and the total with the percentage added (useful for GST: ₹1,000 + 18% = ₹1,180). The visual bar shows exactly how large the percentage is at a glance.

  • GST — What is 18% of ₹5,000? → ₹900 GST, total ₹5,900
  • Discount — What is 25% of ₹2,400? → ₹600 off, you pay ₹1,800
  • Commission — What is 2.5% of ₹8,00,000? → ₹20,000
  • Interest — What is 7.5% of ₹50,000? → ₹3,750 per year

Mode 2 — X is What % of Y?

Find what percentage one number is of another. Enter the part and the whole — the tool shows the percentage, remaining portion, and remaining percentage. Common fraction quick-fill buttons (½, ¼, ¾, ⅓, ⅔) let you explore equivalencies instantly. Useful for exam scores, profit margins, savings rates, and market share.

  • Exam score — 450 is what % of 500? → 90%
  • Savings rate — ₹15,000 savings of ₹75,000 income → 20%
  • Profit margin — ₹12,000 profit on ₹80,000 revenue → 15%
  • Market share — ₹3.5L of ₹20L total → 17.5%

Mode 3 — Percentage Change

Calculate how much a value has increased or decreased. Enter the original and new value to get the exact percentage change, color-coded green for increases and red for decreases. The built-in reverse calculator answers "if my value of ₹45,000 increases by 15%, what will it become?" — all without switching pages.

  • Salary hike — From ₹45,000 to ₹52,200 → +16% increase
  • Stock return — Bought at ₹340, now ₹510 → +50% gain
  • Price drop — ₹1,299 to ₹999 → −23.1% decrease
  • Inflation — Petrol from ₹95 to ₹107 → +12.6% increase

Key Percentage Formulas

P% of N = (P × N) ÷ 100
X is what % of Y = (X ÷ Y) × 100
% Change = ((New − Old) ÷ |Old|) × 100
New Value after % change = Old × (1 + Change% ÷ 100)

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. Formula: (P × N) ÷ 100 = result. Example: 18% of ₹5,000 = (18 × 5,000) ÷ 100 = ₹900. Use the first tab "What is X% of Y?" and enter both values — the answer updates instantly as you type.

Divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. Formula: (part ÷ whole) × 100 = %. Example: 750 is what % of 1,000? → (750 ÷ 1,000) × 100 = 75%. Use the second tab "X is what % of Y?" and enter both numbers to get the result immediately.

Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100. Formula: ((New − Old) ÷ Old) × 100. A positive result is an increase; negative is a decrease. Example: from ₹800 to ₹1,000 → ((1,000 − 800) ÷ 800) × 100 = +25% increase.

Use the first tab "What is X% of Y?". Click the GST quick-fill button for your applicable rate (5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%), then enter the base price in the second field. The GST amount appears as the main result. The "Total (base + result)" box below the bar shows the final GST-inclusive price. Enable ₹ Rupee Format for Indian number formatting.
